Ricoh SP-4510SF Review

Laser Printer
We’ll be taking a look at Ricoh SP-4510SF. Starting at the top of the 4510SF, you have an ADF built into the lid of the flatbed scanner, which can be used to scan, copy or fax multipage documents. The scan quality is good, and these scans can be saved as JPEGs, TIFFs and PDFs. The fax capabilities on this printer are great too with 4MB of dedicated memory and 12hour backup. Operating the machine is simple thanks to dedicated fax, scan and copy buttons, along with the 4.3 inch colour touchscreen display. As displays go, this one is quite impressive. It’s very responsive and well made, something that puts this printer ahead of the curve when it comes to usability.

Ricoh SP-4510SF ships with everything you’ll need to get started, including a 6,000 page starter toner cartridge. The toner can be replaced with a regular, high or ultra high yield toner cartridge, and these yield 3,000, 6,000 and 12,000 pages respectively. As always we recommend the highest yield toner possible, as they significantly reduce your cost per page, and contribute to a much lower total cost of ownership. Larger toners also equate to less downtime, as you’ll be changing the consumables less often. Combining the main paper tray and the multipurpose feeder, this printer has a standard total paper capacity of 600 sheets. This number can be upgraded to a maximum of 1,600 sheets, with the use of additional trays. If you can, we recommend getting hold of these additional trays, as they not only increase your paper capacity, but they greatly improve you printer’s versatility.

Having several trays means you can have different types, weights and sizes of media, ready to print on at any given time. And given this printer can print on pre printed letterheads; it makes sense to have a tray dedicated to doing just that. One final thing to note about this printer is the build quality. No flimsy bits of plastic or wobbly panels here, everything from the paper tray to the ADF is solid. This great build quality along with the high duty cycle tells us that this printer is going to be very reliable and last a long time. Energy saving features and duplex printing is also going to save you money. If you need a mono MFP to cater to a busy office, then this may just be what you’re after.
